All-Region Honor Choir
What is All-Region Honor Choir? (7th and 8th grade students) Auditions for this choir will be held on Saturday, October 24th at Dawson Middle School in CISD. This is an opportunity for students to perform with other middle school choir students in our TMEA/UIL Region #24. For more information on Region 24 please visit www.UILForms.com/Regions/24. Students will all rehearse the same pre-selected choral pieces. They will be given copies of the music and a practice cd. After or before school rehearsal time will be available with Mrs. Wright one week before the audition date. On the day of the auditions, each student will be given a block of time when they can expect to sing (ex: 8am to 10am). When their number is called they will enter a classroom and see a music stand with sightreading music. A sheet will be between the student and four or five judges, so the audition is completely anonymous. The student will sing through the audition pieces along with the same cd that they have practiced with, then sightread the music on the stand, and the audition is complete. The actual audition will take eight to ten minutes. Results are given at the end of the day but students do not need to wait. Mrs. Wright will contact students that are chosen that evening. The fee for this audition is $10.00. For students that are chosen to perform, the concert will be held on Saturday, November 14th at Lewisville High School. Students must purchase the packet of required music for $10.00. Rehearsals begin in the morning and a guest clinician will work with each choir throughout the day to prepare for the evening concert. Parents and family are invited to attend the evening concert. This is always a fun day and a wonderful opportunity to perform with a large choir consisting of the finest middle school choral students in our area. I highly encourage each student to audition for this event. Participating students will also receive an All-Region Honor Choir patch for their letter jacket.
Please note that this is a one-day event. No further commitment is necessary.
The blocks are scheduled as follows:

Students will check in and wait for their number to be called to audition. Please note that no electronic devices are permitted, as stated in the Region 24 Handbook:
All-Region Honor Choir Auditions will be held on Saturday, October 24th. As the date approaches, students will receive the exact time that they will audition. Parents, if possible, please work together to carpool to the event. Transportation cannot be made available through the school. FISD transportation guidelines state that a teacher must be present on the bus with the students, and Mrs. Wright will be busy judging the auditions from 7:00am until 5:00pm. To prevent students from staying all day (auditions will only take 10 to 30 minutes each), parents will need to arrange transportation. Stay tuned for directions...... Also, students must be academically eligible to participate in this event. Mrs. Wright will be monitoring each students' grades to ensure compliance. Please call or email if you have any questions.

Upon finishing their audition, students are to return to the cafeteria or leave the building. Directors are responsible for posting their own results, as results will not be posted at the audition site.Listening devices (including cell phones with music capabilities) of any kind are prohibited at the audition site. Students may be disqualified for listening to, or practicing audition pieces onsite. In addition, students may be disqualified for any of the following reasons: being in the audition hallway unless escorted by a runner, loud or disruptive behavior, rude/disrespectful behavior to students and adults, or any other behavior deemed inappropriate by the region chair.

Region is so much fun!!! i had a ton of fun last year. i can't wait to do it again this year!
