Discipline ProceduresThis is a featured page

Something that we do not need in our choral department is discipline problems. Choir students tend to be some of the smartest, most dedicated students in school. If choir is not your gig, or you have a problem with the way things are run, please let your director know after class. And if she thinks you might need to change the way you are working, she might request a conference or talk to your after class. When in the Choir Room, these are some of the behaviors that can result in discipline:

  • Tardiness
  • Not being prepared with necessary supplies
  • Disrupting rehearsal
  • Gum, food or drink
  • Talking
  • Loitering in the restroom

There are others, as well that might come up during the year. Discipline from the choir director can include:

  • Verbal warning
  • Writing assignment
  • Detention
  • Office referral
  • Parent phone call
  • Parent conference
  • Loss of choir privileges

Some behaviors have specific consequences as outlined by your school policy. Others will be up to the director. Remember, most of the behaviors listed above will not allow you to exhibit the skills you must show each day to receive full credit for Daily Demonstration of Skills. (See “Grading Policy”).
