Grading PolicyThis is a featured page

  • 50% Major Grades: includes Tests, Projects, and Performances. To earn all points for performances, students must arrive on time and stay for the duration of the concert. At each performance students will receive three major grades with a possible "100" for each. These include Concert Etiquette (student behavior while in the audience watching other students perform), Concert Performance (participating in their portion of the concert), and Concert Attire (student is wearing the correct uniform in a presentable manner). As you can see, students that miss a performance and do not complete the make-up assignment within one week are in danger of failing choir for that six weeks.

  • 30% Daily Grades: includes daily participation. Each day, your director will mark for each student the skills that are not being demonstrated (if any). At the end of the week, these marks will be tallied and a grade for the week will be assigned. For example, Susy is talking to a friend about her boyfriend during warm-ups. Not only is she not singing, but her posture is incorrect. On her weekly report, she will receive a deduction for posture and for not singing during warm-ups. If a student is always on task and always exhibiting the skills of good choral technique, they can expect to receive a 100 for their weekly participation grade.

  • 20% Minor Grades: includes homework assignments, quizzes, and practice sheets.

Concert Make-Up Assignments
It is impossible to make up a missed performance. We cannot assemble everyone together again to recreate the experience for those that did not attend. This is why it is imperative that students attend each concert in order to fulfill the state mandated TEKS requirements for fine arts. However, if a student misses a performance, they have the opportunity to complete a make-up assignment. It is the students' responsibility to get the make-up assignment from Mrs. Wright and complete it within one week of the missed performance. All make-up assignments will receive a grade no higher than "70". Late assignments will be minus 10 points for each day late.
