Illness/Injury
We all get sick or injured occasionally. Here’s what you should do if this happens:

  • As you walk in the door, notify Mrs. Wright of your condition. She cannot read minds! You must let her know when you have a cold, sore throat, sprained ankle, etc.
  • Even if the student cannot sing, he or she can still participate with hand signs during sight reading, lip the words in the music, and make any pencil marks in their music given by the director. One of the most valuable things we can do as singers is “sing” the music in our head without actually singing out loud.

Students will NOT be allowed to “sit out” when they are sick. They are expected to participate as fully as possible considering their condition. Full Daily Demonstration of Skills credit will be given if the student follows these guidelines.

Restroom/Drink Policy
Students should use the restroom and get a drink from the fountain before they come to class. Do not come to the classroom and then ask if you can use the bathroom or get a drink. My answer will always be the same: “Go if you think you can be on the risers when the bell rings. Otherwise, you will be tardy and it will be a detention.”

Students must have their agenda to use as a hall pass anytime they leave the room. If a student does not have their agenda and has an emergency need to use the restroom, of course he or she will be allowed to go. Mrs. Wright will speak with the student after class and if necessary, contact a parent. Abuse of this policy will not be tolerated.
